News for Yaoi-Con 2004 and Tales of Anime 2004:

Yaoi-Con announces Tales of Anime, a one-day convention

From the same people who brought you Yaoi-Con, Tales of Anime is a brand new one-day convention aimed to bring fans of all ages exceptional entertainment. This inaugural event will be held at San Francisco's Cathedral Hill Hotel, August 28, 2004.

What makes Tales of Anime unique is its adherence to a new theme every year. This thematic variation both introduces and celebrates a different aspect of anime, manga, or gaming to the fan community. For its first year, Tales of Anime features the theme Heroes and Demons, a celebration of anime, manga, and games that pit a valiant hero against diabolical manifestations of monsters, beasts, or inhuman villains. Some examples include Yu Yu Hakusho, Saiyuki, RG Veda, Vampire Hunter D, Seimaden, Resident Evil, Castlevania, Devil May Cry, and Silent Hill. This theme will drive programming, costuming, contests and more, allowing fans a unique opportunity to express themselves creatively. In the spirit of this theme, the first annual Cosplay will also have a special "Survival Horror" award for the intrepid cosplayer who rise up to the challenge.

Tales of Anime will feature activities and events such as a family-friendly "Con"ival, featuring midway games; a Dealers' Room with anime, manga and game-related merchandise; an anime screening room (which will feature yaoi programming after 10 p.m., 18+ only); various panels and workshops; and much, much more.
