News for Tsubasacon 2008:

Tsubasacon announces first around of guests

Jen Lee Quick and Ultraball comes to Huntington

HUNTINGTON, WEST VIRGINIA – April 6, 2008 – Tsubasacon, West Virginia's premiere anime and manga convention, has announced its first round of guests for the 2008 convention: manga artist Jen Lee Quick and the musical group Ultraball.

Jen Lee Quick is best known for her manga "Off*Beat" published by Tokyopop. Having published two volumes thus far, she is currently working on her third installment of "Off*Beat". Her creative skills reach past drawing manga, into beautifully colored Photoshop works and cosplay. This year is Quick's second appearance at Tsubasacon, having previously attended last year.

Ultraball is a two-man synth-punk band from Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. Consisting of Chris Campbell and Sami Al-Qaisi, Ultraball aims to create a song for each of the 150 Pokémon from the original Pokémon games. Playing a variety of genres from punk rock to reggae, synth-pop to metal, Ultraball strives to capture the unique spirit of each Pokémon in song, just as a masterful trainer would in battle. This is Ultraball's first appearance at Tsubasacon.

Tsubasacon 2008 will be held from September 26 thought 28 at the Big Sandy Superstore Arena in Huntington, West Virginia. Planned events includes several cosplay events where participants dress as their favorite characters, video screenings, video game tournaments, guest panels, and workshops. There will also be several vendors selling various anime and manga related goods and an artist's alley where local artists can display their talents.

ABOUT TSUBASACON, INC.: First established in 2004, Tsubasacon is West Virginia's first and only convention focusing on Japanese animation and comics, respectively know as "anime" and "manga". In early 2006, control of the convention was transferred from Charleston Anime and Manga Society, Inc. to Tsubasacon, Inc.
