News for JaniCon 2007:
JaniCon announces six new guests and new events
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 30, 2007 (JACKSONVILLE, FL) - JaniCon is quickly becoming a buffet of music, where the music simply does not stop. In addition to the many musical guests already on the lineup, we are ready to announce the final four bands that will be filling the halls of JaniCon with awesome.
First on the list is J*Scape, a South Florida-based anime and J-Rock cover band. They're versed in the themes of many of today's most popular anime, such as Full Metal Alchemist, Naruto, Bleach, and FLCL (Dash's Note: Pillows ftw), and follow them up with a healthy dose of J-Rock covers. While relatively new to the concert scene, Paul, Cesar, Adrian, Alexis, Joe are more than ready to deliver the rock to the masses.
Hailing from an undisclosed mental institution in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, CHICKENBOX (operating in nothing less than all caps) has come to blow speakers and melt faces. JaniCon was able to distract Bob, Dick, and Kneegore from food and costumes long enough to convince them to play at JaniCon. Whether this decision will hanut our staff is still in the air.
Hello, Emergency Pizza Party? I'd like one large with lots of l33t beats. E.P.P. is here to deliver a boxful of Nerdcore Hip Hop to the fine folks of Janicon with hits such as Zombie Jesus and Dramanet that are sure to satisfy even the fiercest of Samurai Cat appetites.
And finally, what you've all been waiting for. Straight out of Chinatown, three cooks-turned-gangsta rappers by the names of Hong Kong Fever, Down-Lo Mein, and the Hunan Bomb will be rapping the hell out of Jacksonville. That's right: the incorrigible, the inimitable, the Notorious MSG. This unmissable event will set the standard for convention concert lineups for quite some time. Simply put: Be there.
What would a convention be without a fair share of zombies and horror? Not something we'd attend, that's for sure. Fortunately, JaniCon has its bases covered. We're happy to announce two wonderful artists from the world of mysterious and gory happenings: Mike Koneful and Andrea Scoyoc. Mr. Koneful is the talented artist of such horror pieces as Flesheater, Zacherly's Midnite Terrors, and his current hit, Gory Lori. Meanwhile, Andrea Dean Van Scoyoc is the award-winning author of such hit novels as The Two, A Man of Two Worlds, Michael, and is eager to share her knowledge of the world of horror fiction with JaniCon.
Speaking of the dark and intimidating, we will be hosting a screening of Sight Unseen Productions' suspense thriller "The Bunker", a psychological thriller about the kidnapping of a congressman's daughter at the hands of a serial killer. A must-see for all horror and suspense buffs!
On to something a little more colorful; JaniCon will be holding an epic Pokemon event and tournament on Saturday. A page with all the details will be up soon, so get those DS-es ready and kick the training into overdrive...
And now for some news you can use: Limited edition JaniCon hats by Mad Hatter Productions and JaniCon bags by Panda Bake will soon be available through our website. If you want to secure yourself one of these gorgeous pieces of con memorabilia, be sure to reserve one here so you'll have one safely waiting for you at the convention.
A quick closing note: The Artist's Alley is officially full. A huge thanks to all those who signed up and will bringing their talents to JaniCon. If you would like to put your name on the waiting list in case of any cancellation openings, shoot an e-mail to aalley@janicon.
