Biography:
Canadian artist Sean Danconia is best known for his dynamic visual universe, which showcases heroic and kawaii themes from both eastern and western cultural landscapes. Whether applied to fine art, apparel, or animation, Danconia's colorful, multi-layered collage of cinematic stories and iconic characters are instantly recognizable. After moving to Little Tokyo (LA) from Hong Kong in 2008, Danconia lent his iconic style to Disney®, Hello Kitty, the Bob Marley Estate, The Nisei Week Foundation, Popeye & Olive (King Features), Scooby Doo (Warner Bros) and Marilyn Monroe, among others - in addition to various independent projects. Coining the term "Pop-Fusion" to describe his mixed-media fine art, which integrates both traditional acrylic, spray paint, photographic, digital and 3D mediums. Danconia's work can be found at select galleries throughout the US, including WonderGround Gallery, Downtown Disney District (Disneyland® Resort), Mouche Gallery - Beverly Hills, Hero Complex Gallery and the Joseph Watson Collection in Las Vegas. In 2011, Danconia partnered with Lion King Producer, Jay Rifkin to form Danconia Studios and developed MAYUMI GUMI - a character brand based on an irreverent Japanese Kokeshi she-kitten. Launched at Downtown Disney®, Disneyland Resort with a MAYUMI GUMI apparel and art collection, Danconia has recently added anime giants Bang Zoom Entertainment and Cosmic Toast to the team.
