CJ Cherryh
Author
Washington, USA
Biography:
CJ Cherryh has done a LOT of things, but first and foremost, she is a writer. From an early age, 10 years old to be exact, writing is what she knew she wanted to and so she has done it. Other things she has dabbled in through the years include: fencing, riding, archery, firearms, ancient weapons, too many animals to name, wilderness survival, sailing, skating (both street and ice), many forms of painting (including canvas, house and interior), aquariums, video games, archaeology and ancient histories, and caves.
CJ spent many years in Oklahoma, first teaching and then ultimately leaving that to write full time. And, speaking of writing, CJ has written a huge number of books, including the beloved series of Chanur, Alliance- Union and Foreigner. She has won three Hugo awards. She has two books scheduled to be released in 2012 in the Foreigner 4 series.
Currently, she lives in Washington State, with a veritable menagerie of animals, including: cats, marine fish---and have had lizards, birds, freshwater fish. From CJ, "at the height of the madness, with 7 fish tanks, three cats, a terrarium and an aviary, all in the same room, we used to joke that we didn't have pets---we had a food chain."
As if the animals and writing didn't keep her busy enough, CJ also took up ice skating not many years ago. She took silver in her first competition a mere six months later (losing out to Jane Fancher's gold - no too bad.) Both ladies hope to compete in adult Nationals one day.
