Biography:
Hideko Tamura Snider survived the Hiroshima bombings as a nine-year-old girl. Her memoir, "One Sunny Day," recalls the day the bomb was dropped and what happened in the aftermath. The book has become recommended reading for college students.
Ms. Snider is also the founder of the O.S.D. (One Sunny Day) Initiatives, which focuses on reconciliation work and peace. She's given talks in both the U.S. and U.K., receiving an honorary doctorate from the College of Wooster in 2010 for her lifetime public service work.
