AnimeCons.com unveils worldwide convention map

BOSTON, MA - Anime fans across the globe can now easily find conventions near them by using the new Convention Map feature on AnimeCons.com. The map is currently in beta testing, but lists over 100 upcoming conventions across four continents.

The map utilizes the Google Maps API. Like Google Maps, users can easily zoom in and out, drag the map, and switch between map and satellite modes. Blue pins mark the location of each convention on the map. Clicking on a blue pin will reveal the name of the convention, dates, location, and provide a link to an information page with additional information about the convention.

"Previously, anime fans in the United States would typically just look at the list of conventions in their state but not actually consider that one across state lines may be closer," said Patrick Delahanty, founder of AnimeCons.com. "Being able to compare locations on a map really puts things in perspective."

While the map is in beta testing, further development is being planned. Among the planned features are the ability to view past conventions and an option to view only certain types of conventions.
