Biography:
Thomas Romain is a Tokyo-based French animation artist. After graduating from Gobelins l'Ecole de l'Image in 2002, he co-created the anime-inspired show Code Lyoko which was broadcast on Cartoon Network (2003-2007). He then moved to Japan to co-direct the French-Japanese TV series Oban Star-racers (2006), which caught the eye of Shoji Kawamori, director at Satelight animation studio. Kawamori then offered Romain a position as a key member at Satelight. Together, they co-developed an original TV animated series called Basquash! (2009). From there, Romain formed a team of French creators to handle the design works of various titles including Aquarion EVOL, Bodacious Space Pirates, Croisée in a Foreign Labyrinth, AKB0048, and Symphogear. More recently, he designed the spaceships of Space Dandy, which has made his name widely known.
